• He is one of the most decorated players in the nhl. he is one of the best penalty killers in the nhl. he plays the power play, he can play defense. he is a playmaker and he is always on fire. derek roy is also a player like this. the sabres may not be playing well right now, but they are young and have some of the most underrated players on their team.


  • It's just one of those media things for whatever reason. Hype! Marc Savard is probably the best example of this in the game today. He's doing everything while Crosby is putting together a slow start and still Crosby is more talked about them Savard. Another would be Rod Brind'Amour many years ago when he was playing with the Flyers and they had the so called 'Legion of Doom' line consisting of Lindros, Leclair, and Renberg. Out of these four former Flyers, looks who's put together the most remarkable career of them all and still playing, Brind'Amour. Lindros couldn't put up with the physicality of the game always having his head down, Leclair couldn't keep up with the new NHL and became useless, and Renberg, well, what did he really do? Then you've got Brind'Amour who's just starting to slow down, but is still an effective depth player and great leader. He also won a Stanley Cup, though Leclair did with Montreal, but he wasn't the biggest contributor at that stage in his career.

    My point being is it's all about media hype.


  • If your name isn't Crosby, the NHL is not investing in your marketing.

    Given that reality, a guy in Buffalo might as well be in a witness protection program if he's not a top 5 scorer.
