(CBS4 News) NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE On the heels of a case where a Haitian woman smuggled a human head into Hollywood-Ft. Lauderdale Airport, a Nigerian man was stopped Wednesday at Miami’s airport for bringing in bird remains in his luggage.

According to Customs and Border Protection agents, the man came in on an Alitalia flight from Milan, Italy shortly after 3pm. Upon passing through the customs checkpoint, a beagle alerted agents to something inside his bag. Inside, they found the remains of dead birds.

He is being held for questioning, though he did tell officials that the cargo was to be used for religious purposes.

CBP does not know what kind of birds they are. They have turned them over to quarantine and officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be conducting further tests.

  • I can't use the words I'd like to...but what the &$*@ is someone doing hauling a dead bird.

    -hawkeye

  • Hawke eye. tut tut tut;bear in mind the last para. of WHO's "Guiding Principles for International Outbreak Alert and Response"...
"All network responses will proceed with full respect for ethical standards, human rights, national and local laws, cultural sensitivities and traditions".
This of course cannot be compatible with global disease containment, but heck;it is very POLITICALLY CORRECT. And we must be PC,mustn't we?
